LeFlore dumps Wister in Nadine Carpenter Classic

Among the teams advancing to the winners bracket semifinals in the Nadine Carpenter Classic are Wister’s boys and LeFlore’s girls.

LeFlore’s girls earned their second win of the season against Wister after winning the season opener at Wister on Nov. 2.

Here’s the rundown of first-round results, followed by the secondroun­d schedule.

Girls Monday Sallisaw Central 68, Howe JV 21

Sallisaw Central led 19-2 at the end of the first quarter, 31-6 at halftime and 56-14 through three quarters. Marely Jiminez had six points for Howe while Lillie Branscum and Brenlee Easley each had five. Koda Robbins, formerly of Panama, scored four points for Sallisaw Central.

McCurtain 60, Haileyvill­e 25

McCurtain led 27-8 at the end of the first quarter, 41-18 at halftime and 5620 through three quarters.

Avrie Ford led McCurtain with 17 points while Brilee Scarberry had 16 and Kaylee Culwell had 14.

Tuesday LeFlore 56, Wister 38

LeFlore (5-3) jumped to a 16-5 lead by the end of the first quarter before advancing to a 34-17 margin by halftime and a 4626 lead by the end of the third quarter.

Trystan Kirkes led LeFlore with 21 points, shooting 10-of-13 from the free-throw line. River Cogburn added 15 points while Erica Baldwin had nine and Kylynn Knight had seven. Kaylea Underwood led Wister (3-4) with 15 points, and Kinzie Duncan had eight.

Wister moves on directly to Saturday’s consolatio­n final since Howe JV will not play any more games in the tournament.

Smithville 59, Keota 32

Boys Monday Sallisaw Central 72, LeFlore 25

LeFlore (0-7) stood within 7-6 in the latter part of the first quarter before Sallisaw Central scored eight straight points and had LeFlore at a 15-8 margin at the end of the period.

At halftime, LeFlore trailed 35-12. LeFlore shot 8-of-12 from the free-throw line in the third quarter, but ended the period trailing 58-24.

Rylan Luman led the Savages with 14 points while Mason Green had four.

McCurtain 68, Haileyvill­e 37

McCurtain (6-1, ranked 19th in Class B) started slowly with a 17-12 deficit through one quarter before surging to a 38-22 halftime lead and a 52-35 advantage by the end of the third quarter.

Kamdyn Dill led McCurtain with 14 points while Ben Bond had 12 and Luke Sandlin had 11.

Tuesday

Wister 78, Bokoshe 25

Landon Donaho led Wister (6-1) with 12 points while Dartyn Meeks and Kord Fenton each had 11, Riley Crane and Braxton Hill each had 10 and Kevin Hampton had five.

Smithville 54, Keota 40
