LeFlore County commissioners approve agreement with Latimer County to share resources
On Monday morning, the Board of County Commissioners passed a motion approving an agreement between LeFlore and Latimer counties to share or borrow equipment and manpower if needed.
County Commissioners Board Chairman Jamie Oliver said, “All this boils down to is an agreement between counties, that way it’s convenient for us. If we have a piece of equipment that goes down or we’re in a bind or vice a versa, we can share and help Latimer County.”
The commissioners also approved an agreement between the Choctaw Nation and LeFlore County for the design and construction of road improvements along Reichert Bridge northeast of Conser.
“It’s a very dangerous bridge,” Oliver said, adding that one person has lost their life, and that there was another recent accident due to the condition of the bridge.
Oliver said the passing of the agreement was just a last step needed before the Choctaw Nation could get started on the bridge for the safety of the people living in the Conser community.
The board also approved an agreement between the Oklahoma Department of TranspirationandtheBoard of County Commissioners for an inmate public works project on the state highway system.
Oliver said that ODOT will be funding the project, so it will not cost the county any money, and added that he thinks it will be great for county highways as well.
The Board of Commissioners took action on several other agenda items during the meeting, including:
Approving county utility relocation agreement for Rhino Road project 29974(04) as submitted.
Approving of the disposal of equipment records to benefit county commissioner highway department District 1.
Approving an application for a permit for a public service/pipeline crossing to bore under the roadway approximately 2700 feet West from the Northeast corner of section seven, township 5N Range 26E in Heavener.
