Kennedy prepares to be LeFlore superintendent
LeFlore Public Schools has announced that Justin Kennedy has been appointed as the school’s new superintendent for the 2024-2025 school year. Kennedy starts working as superintendent on July 1.
“I am honored and excited to join the LeFlore Public School team,” said Kennedy. “I look forward to working collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and the community to build on the school’s successes and create a positive learning environment where every student can thrive.”
Kennedy previously served as Director at Kiamichi Tech in Talihina and as Superintendent at Buffalo Valley Public
School. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Agricultural Economics from Eastern Oklahoma State College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Education from Oklahoma State University, a Master ’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University.
“We are thrilled to welcome Justin Kennedy as our new superintendent,” said Renee Johnson, President of the LeFlore Public School Board. “His proven track record of leadership and his passion for education make him the ideal candidate to lead our school into the future.”
Kennedy said he enjoys the atmosphere of smaller school districts. He grew up and graduated in Whitesboro, and he said small schools are where he is most comfortable.
He said he thinks the largest challenge for him will be learning the ropes. In his previous role as superintendent at Buffalo Valley, he had worked at the school for several years before becoming superintendent. It will take time to get to know the students, the staff, the school, and the community.
Kennedy said he is eager to get to work in July and start forming relationships and working for the school district. He said working with students is something he has always cared about deeply.
“It’s my passion,” he said.
Bryan Warren is the outgoing superintendent at LeFlore Schools.
