Restless in Seattle

For more boater-friendly events in Seattle and for images from Hammerman’s trip to the playoffs, visit

Boating and football. Both can stand firmly on their own as popular American pastimes; now, if only you could find a way to combine the two; then you’d really be on to something.

Our intrepid publisher, Arnie Hammerman—a salty soul indeed—managed to do just that this past winter when he and his family filed aboard their Cutwater 26 bound for downtown Seattle and a Seahawks’ playoff game. Swapping all that pregame traffic and parking-lot madness for a leisurely family cruise, he made the most of his craftiness (and good fortune at scoring tickets!) and forced us to tip our hat. The game may have ended in disappointment but the trip yielded memories that will surely outlive the postseason blues.

Inspired, and OK, maybe just a bit jealous, we did some digging to discover some other nautical events the salty city of Seattle offers boaters during the spring and summer. The events below are but some of the many attractions offered in the coming months.

Know any other events around Seattle that you’d recommend to your fellow boaters? Let us know about them at inbox@pmymag.com and we’ll spread the word.
