Monte Carlo Yachts
PMY: How does your passion for boating and business feed innovation?
CARLA DEMARIA: When we launched Monte Carlo Yachts brand and our first-ever yacht, we were confident that it would have been a success since we worked on this project with meticulous care and a high concentration not to make mistakes. We were born in 2009, during one of the deepest economic crisis, and knew that the market sure was not waiting for a new manufacturer. In fact, when other manufacturers, faced with the abrupt fall of the market, were blocking investments and reducing staff, it was clear to us that to succeed, further to be very passionate and focused on our mission, we would have been profoundly innovative. In the design, in the construction processes (we boast a world patented and awarded manufacturing process) and even in the business model. In the past seven years, thanks to a very motivated team, 7 successful models came to light forming a collection from 65’ to 105’. We are extremely pleased with what we achieved.
PMY: How will your products change to meet the needs of the evolving marketplace?
CARLA DEMARIA: Actually, the need of change has been one of our main drivers since launching Monte Carlo Yachts. Born from a blank piece of paper, we have been focused in creating a complete new project in the Yachting World with the aim to breaking new ground. Think about it. Is there anything more superfluous than what we generically call luxury? Probably not. But luxury is first and foremost value, and it’s now time to put luxury back in tune with our most authentic needs: time, space, silence, well-being and harmony.
Luxury is rediscovering that sense of well-being that can only come when people are placed in the centre of everything, and their needs are met and surpassed in harmony with the environment that surrounds us all.
Monte Carlo Yachts is uniquely suited to meet the new global demand for functionality and responsibility in luxury goods, which must of necessity become objects that are a simple pleasure to use.
PMY: How important is innovation in the mar ket you compete in?
CARLA DEMARIA: As already expressed, it’s very important. That’s also why, for the first time in the yacht sector, in Monte Carlo Yachts we created a World-Class patented modular construction process inspired by the concepts in Lean Manufacturing. This has been recognised as one of the most important strengths of the company, which permits to increase the quality of the yachts while considerably reducing the time of construction, allowing the yard to be more responsive and dynamic to a global market. We have been awarded with the Innovation in a Production Process Award at the IBI-METS Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement, an important recognition to the innovative production process that has distinguished the company since the launch of its first yacht. This unique process is matched with a revolutionary naval architecture that strongly differentiates MCY yachts from the rest of the market, developed in order to offer unparalleled levels of comfort and reliability at sea, not achievable through conventional design.
