Kukur Tihar, Nepal
November 13–15, 2023 – Tihar is a five-day Nepalese celebration of lights, similar to Diwali in India. On the second day of the festival – Day of the Dogs – pets and strays alike are blessed, receive baths and tempting treats, and are decorated with flowers and garlands. The tradition comes from a Hindu myth told about a man who refused to enter heaven unless his dog was allowed to come with him.

The Mystic Krewe of Barkus Parade, New Orleans
February 4, 2024 – Founded in 1992, The Mystic Krewe of Barkus Parade is held annually, two Sundays before Mardi Gras.
