Carson hires new human resources director
A human resources consultant with more than two decades of experience has become Carson's HR director, the city announced this week — nearly seven months after her predecessor was fired over allegations of embezzling from a nonprofit.
Crystal Williams, a lifelong Carson resident, took on the top HR role for the city Monday.
She succeeded Faye Moseley, who served as HR director for about three years before being fired Dec. 9, the day a Los Angeles Superior Court judge signed off on an arbitration award for an Atlanta nonprofit that filed a lawsuit accusing Moseley and her husband of embezzlement.
In the wake of her firing, Moseley could not be reached for comment, and city officials declined to comment because it was a personnel matter.
Williams, meanwhile, has more than 20 years of experience in the field, in both the public and private sector, according to a Tuesday news release from the city. She's now responsible for handling the city's human resources program, including recruitment and retention, and managing the employee grievance process.
“We are looking forward to having Crystal join our executive leadership team,” Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes said in the release, “and are confident she will be instrumental in assisting the city move forward given her talent and experience.”
Williams is well-practiced in various aspects of human resources, the release said, including employee relations, recruitment, workplace injury proceedings and disciplinary action.
She's committed to cultivating an inclusive workplace, the release said.
“I am grateful to now be at the helm of the city's greatest assets — the employees,” Williams said in the release. “Satisfied employees equate to greater customer satisfaction for our residents. I look forward to helping our employees achieve this goal.”
Williams will make $173,520 a year, according to City Attorney Sunny Soltani.
