J.K. Rowling on her legacy: Who cares?
J.K. Rowling said she doesn't care about how she will be remembered for posterity.
The best-selling British author known for the “Harry Potter” books and her comments about transgender women, which have been criticized as transphobic, said in a new podcast that she's not concerned how future generations will view her. “I do not walk around my house thinking about my legacy,” the controversial 57-year-old said in the first episode of “The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling,” out Tuesday.
“You know, what a pompous way to live your life, walking around thinking, `What will my legacy be?' Whatever, I'll be dead. I care about now. I care about the living,” she added.
The seven-part podcast is based on conversations Rowling had with Megan Phelps-Roper, a former member of the stridently anti-LGBTQ Westboro Baptist Church, who “left a life of religious extremism in 2012.″
`South Park' snark leaves Meghan `overwhelmed'
Meghan Markle is reportedly not too happy over the episode of “South Park” that aired Wednesday.
The installment of the animated adult comedy series was titled “The Worldwide Privacy Tour” and poked fun at Prince Harry and Meghan's seeming interest in remaining in the spotlight despite their stated wishes to also retain their privacy.
The Duchess of Sussex was “upset and overwhelmed” by the episode's release and is “annoyed by South Park but refuses to watch it all,” a source told Spectator.
While Harry and Meghan were not named directly, the episode features characters with striking similarities. At one point, a prince
and his wife make an appearance on a talk show to discuss the prince's new memoir, titled “WAAAGH,” but are seen earlier hoisting placards that read “We Want Our Privacy,” and “Stop Looking At Us!”
Ice-T mourns loss of `Law & Order' partner Belzer
Fin Tutuola and John Munch made one heckuva team on the screen. Turns out they made a pretty good one off it, too.
So, naturally, the man who played Tutuola on “Law & Order,” Ice-T, took to social media to
honor the man who played Munch, Richard Belzer, following his death over the weekend. “Highs and Lows,” Ice-T posted on Twitter with a pic of himself standing with Belzer. “After one of the most amazing weeks of my life, I wake up to the news I lost my friend today. Belz is gone.. Damn it! But remember this… `When you ARE having real fun and are Truly Happy ENJOY it to the fullest! Cause Pain is inevitably coming.'
“I'll miss you homie.”
