ACFC's Thompson, Vignola set to join USWNT for friendlies
Angel City Football Club's Alyssa Thompson and M.A. Vignola were among the 27 players selected to the USWNT camp for friendlies on Oct. 26 (in Utah) and Oct. 29 (in San Diego) against Colombia.
Vignola made her senior national team debut last month against South Africa in Cincinnati. Thompson was also called in for the September games.
This is the second camp for interim coach Twila Kilgore.
Last month, U.S. Soccer Sporting Director Matt Crocker said “in an ideal world, we'd like to be in a position for the December camp to have the new head coach in place.”
This roster features the return of Portland Thorns defender Becky Sauerbrunn, who missed this summer's FIFA World Cup with a foot injury, and forward Sophia Smith, who missed the September camp and games.
For players in the NWSL, the international break comes after this weekend's quarterfinal round of the playoffs and before the semifinal round Nov. 5.
Angel City FC, making its postseason debut in its second season, travels to
