COMPLETING THE A- B UNITS
1. Sew an A strip to a B strip with right sides together along length to make an A-B strip set; press. Repeat to make a total of five A-B strip sets. 2. Subcut the A-B strip sets into 80 (2½" x 4½") A-B segments as shown in Figure 1.
3. Join two A-B segments to make an A-B unit as shown in Figure 2; press. Repeat to make a total of 40 A-B units.
COMPLETING THE STAR BLOCKS
1. Layer two E rectangles right sides together and draw a line from the lower left corner to the upper right corner; cut on the line to make two each E and ER pieces as shown in Figure 3. Repeat to make a total of 24 each E and ER triangles.

3. Referring to Figure 4, draw a line from the lower left corner to the upper right corner; cut on the line, remove pins and unfold to make one D triangle. Repeat with all D squares to make 24 D triangles.
4. Sew an E and ER triangle to the angled sides of D to complete one D-E unit as shown in Figure 5. Repeat to make 24 D-E units.
5. To complete one Star block, select one C square and four each A-B and D-E units.
6. Sew a D-E unit to opposite sides of C to make the center row as shown in Figure 6; press.
7. Sew an A-B unit to opposite sides of a D-E unit to make the top row as shown in Figure 7; press. Repeat to make the bottom row. Make 2
