MATERIALS

• 1 fat quarter each 5 assorted

leaf-color batiks • 1 fat eighth each 12 assorted batiks in storm-sky colors of gray, tan, cream, blue and peach • 5/8 yard dark brown batik • 7/8 yard blue/tan batik • 12/3 yards backing • Batting 56" x 30" • Thread • Size 16 brown pearl cotton • 1/2" bias bar (optional) • Basic sewing tools and supplies

CUTTING

From 5 leaf-color batiks: • Cut 1 (27/8" x 21") strip each fabric. Subcut each strip into 2 (27/8")

D squares. • Cut 1 (21/2" x 21") strip each fabric. Subcut strip into 3 (21/2") C squares

each fabric. • Cut 1 (1" x 31/2") E bias strip each fabric. From 12 assorted storm-sky batiks: • Cut 154 (21/2") A squares. • Cut 10 (27/8") B squares. From dark brown batik: • Cut 2 (1" x 421/2") F strips. • Cut 2 (1" x 191/2") G strips. • Prepare pattern and cut 1 for favorite appliqué technique referring to Quilting Basics on page 110.
