MA­TE­RI­ALS

• 1/4 yard rust tri­an­gle print • 1/4 yard green leaf print • 3/8 yard each of the fol­low­ing: dark rust print bright red print or­ange dot print stone print tan tri­an­gle print mul­ti­col­ored leaf print green dot print dark green print • 1 yard black solid • 13/8 yards rust leaf print • Back­ing to size • Bat­ting to size • Thread • Ba­sic sewing tools and sup­plies

CUT­TING

From rust tri­an­gle print: • Cut 2 (3" by fab­ric width) strips. From green leaf print: • Cut 2 (3" by fab­ric width) strips. From each 3/8- yard print: • Cut 2 (3" by fab­ric width) strips. • Cut 1 (37/8" by fab­ric width) strip. Subut strip into 2 (37/8") squares each; cut each square in half on 1 di­ag­o­nal to make 4 B tri­an­gles each fab­ric. Sub­cut strips into 3 (31/2")

A squares each. Sub­cut strips into 1 (11/2" x 61/2")

F strip each. From black solid: • Cut 2 (37/8" by fab­ric width) strips. Sub­cut strips into 18 (37/8") squares. Cut each square in half on 1 di­ag­o­nal to make 36 C tri­an­gles. • Cut 2 (31/2" by fab­ric width) strips. Sub­cut strips into 18 (31/2") squares. Cut 9 squares in half on 1 di­ag­o­nal to make 18 E tri­an­gles. Set aside re­main­ing 9 squares for D. • Cut 3 (11/2" by fab­ric width) G strips. • Cut 2 (11/2" x 381/2") H strips. From rust leaf print: • Cut 2 (3" by fab­ric width) strips. • Cut 1 (37/8" by fab­ric width) strip. Sub­cut strip into 2 (37/8") B squares, 3 (31/2") A squares and 1 (11/2" x 61/2") F strip. Cut the B squares in half on 1 di­ag­o­nal to make 4 B tri­an­gles. • Cut 5 (3" by fab­ric width) I/J strips. • Cut 6 (21/4" by fab­ric width)

PIEC­ING & COM­PLET­ING THE LEAF BLOCKS

1. To com­plete one Leaf block, se­lect match­ing A, B and F pieces. 2. Sew an E tri­an­gle to op­po­site sides of an F strip as shown in Fig­ure 1; press seams to­ward E. 3. Trim the E-F unit to 31/2" x 31/2" square to com­plete the unit. 4. Sew B to C along the di­ag­o­nal to make a B-C unit as shown in Fig­ure 2; press seam to­ward C. Re­peat to make four B-C units.

5. Join two B-C units with D to make the top row as shown in Fig­ure 3; press seams to­ward D. Fig­ure 3 6. Join two A squares with one B-C unit to make the cen­ter row as shown in Fig­ure 4; press seams to­ward A.
