Autumn Nights Bed Runner
Warm and rich batik prints make this quilt the perfect fall accent to any bedroom.
MATERIALS
• 1/4 yard green batik • 1/3 yard rust batik • 1/2 yard red/rust batik • 1/2 yard cream batik • 5/8 yard olive green batik • 13/8 yards brown batik • Assorted autumn-color batik scraps to coordinate with other fabrics • Backing to size • Batting to size • Thread • Basic sewing tools and supplies
CUTTING
From green batik: • Cut 1 (11/2" by fabric width) strip.
Subcut strip into 20 (11/2") B squares. • Cut 1 (21/2" by fabric width) strip. Subcut strip into 20 (11/2" x 21/2")
C rectangles. From rust batik: • Cut 1 (11/2" by fabric width) strip.
Subcut strip into 20 (11/2") A squares. • Cut 1 (21/2" by fabric width) strip. Subcut strip into 20 (11/2" x 21/2")
D rectangles. • Cut 1 (31/2" by fabric width) strip. Subcut strip into 20 (11/2" x 31/2")
E rectangles. From red/rust batik: • Cut 4 (27/8" by fabric width) strips. Subcut strips into 40 (27/8")
H squares. From cream batik: • Cut 4 (27/8" by fabric width) strips. Subcut strips into 40 (27/8") I squares
and 4 (21/2") J squares. • Cut 1 (21/2" by fabric width) strip. Subcut strip into 16 (21/2") J squares
(20 total). From olive green batik: • Cut 1 (93/4" by fabric width) strip. Subcut strip into 4 (93/4") squares. Cut each square on both diagonals to make 16 K triangles. Set aside 2 for another use. • Cut 1 (51/8" by fabric width) strip. Subcut strip into 2 (51/8") squares. Cut each square in half on 1 diagonal to make 4 L triangles. From brown batik: • Cut 1 (31/2" by fabric width) strip. Subcut strip into 20 (11/2" x 31/2")
F rectangles. • Cut 1 (41/2" by fabric width) strip. Subcut strip into 20 (11/2" x 41/2")
G rectangles. • Cut 1 (13/4" by fabric width) strip. Trim strip to make 2 (13/4" x 191/2")
N strips. • Cut 9 (11/2" by fabric width) strips. Trim 2 strips to make 2 (11/2" x 281/2") R strips. Set aside remaining strips for M/Q. • Cut 6 (21/4" by fabric width)
binding strips. From autumn-color batik scraps: •Cut a total of62(21/2"x4")O rectangle s from the scraps and remainder of listed fabrics. •Cut a total of26(21/2"x5")P rectangle s from the scraps and remainder of listed fabrics.
COMPLETING THE BLOCKS
1. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of each I square.
