• 11/8 yards tan/rust metallic print • 15/8 yards tan tonal • 21/8 yards dark brown tonal • 23/8 yards black paisley print • 22/3 yards fuchsia tonal • Backing to size • Batting to size • Thread • Basic sewing tools and supplies

CUTTING

Prepare paper-piecing patterns as per instructio­ns and the Paper Piecing sidebar on page 60.

From tan/rust metallic print:

• Cut 8 (41/2" by fabric width) strips. Subcut strips into 72 (4" x 41/2") rectangles for pieces 6 and 7.

From tan tonal:

• Cut 15 (3" by fabric width) strips. Subcut strips into 144 (3"x 4") rectangles for pieces 2 and 3. From dark brown tonal: • Cut 8 (61/2" by fabric width) strips. Subcut strips into 72 (4" x 61/2")

rectangles for piece 1. • Cut 7 (11/2" by fabric width) A strips. From black paisley print: • Cut 8 (41/2" by fabric width) strips. Subcut strips into 72 (4" x 41/2")

rectangles for pieces 6 and 7. • Cut 7 (31/2" by fabric width) C strips. • Cut 6 (21/4" by fabric width) binding strips. From fuchsia tonal: • Cut 12 (51/2" by fabric width) strips. Subcut strips into 144 (3" x 51/2")

rectangles for pieces 4 and 5. • Cut 7 (21/2" by fabric width) B strips.
