Some quil­ters use a dab of fab­ric glue stick to hold the seam al­lowance in place on the freezer pa­per. This makes it a lit­tle more dif­fi­cult to re­move the freezer pa­per, but it does make the edges stick down and gives a crisp edge to the shape.

My­lar tem­plate plas­tic may be used in­stead of freezer pa­per. The pieces may be used over and over again.

Spray siz­ing (not spray starch) is another al­ter­na­tive that pro­vides a stiff edge for turn­ing.
