CUT­TING From each tonal: • Cut 1 (21/2" by fab­ric width) strip. Sub­cut strip into 8 (21/2" x 41/2")

B rec­tan­gles. • Cut 1 (21/2" by fab­ric width) strip.

Sub­cut strip into 16 (21/2") C squares. • Cut 1 (41/2" by fab­ric width) strip. Sub­cut strip into 16 (21/2" x 41/2")

I rec­tan­gles. From pe­ony print: • Cut 2 (41/2" by fab­ric width) strips.

Sub­cut strips into 13 (41/2") E squares. • Cut 11 (21/2" by fab­ric width) G/H/J/K strips. • Cut 7 (21/4" by fab­ric width) bind­ing strips. From white solid: • Cut 4 (81/2" by fab­ric width) strips.

Sub­cut strips into 16 (81/2") A squares. • Cut 10 (21/2" by fab­ric width) strips.

Sub­cut strips into 148 (21/2") F squares. • Cut 3 (41/2" by fab­ric width) strips. Sub­cut strips into 48 (21/2" x 41/2") D rec­tan­gles.

COM­PLET­ING THE PIECED UNITS

1. Draw a di­ag­o­nal line from cor­ner to cor­ner on the wrong side of each C and F square. 2. Select one D rec­tan­gle and two match­ing C squares. 3. Re­fer­ring to Fig­ure 1, place a C square right sides to­gether on one end of D and stitch on the marked line. Trim 1/4" away from the stitched line and press C to the right side.

8. Re­peat step 7 to make a to­tal of four sash­ing units of each color as shown in Fig­ure 6.

9. Re­fer­ring to Fig­ure 7, place an F square on op­po­site cor­ners of an E square and stitch on the marked lines. Trim 1/4" be­yond the stitched line and press F to the right side.

10. Re­peat on the re­main­ing two cor­ners of E to com­plete one E-F unit as shown in Fig­ure 8. 11. Re­peat steps 9 and 10 to com­plete a to­tal of 13 E-F units.
