City, Community Organizations Offer Mental Health, Domestic Violence Services
LONG BEACH — The Long Beach Health Department has awarded contracts to community organizations to expand mental health awareness efforts and provide services to individuals experiencing domestic and interpersonal violence during the pandemic.
COVID-19 has led to increased stress, anxiety and uncertainty for many residents already coping with mental health issues. The pandemic also has disproportionately impacted families experiencing domestic violence. The stressors that have accompanied COVID-19 have resulted in a 15% increase, since March, in calls to the Long Beach Police Department to respond to violence in households.
The following organizations were awarded contracts to provide services to people living with a mental health diagnosis and survivors of domestic abuse:

• Dignity Health St. Mary Medical Center
• Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Long Beach
• Interval House
• The Guidance Center

Submit Concepts for Tree, Landscaping Projects
LONG BEACH — The Port of Long Beach is accepting proposals for tree plantings and other landscaping projects that will help mitigate portrelated air quality and noise impacts.
Projects would be funded under the Facility Improvements portion of the Community Grants Program. Eligible applicants include facilities serving the elderly, children, pregnant women, the chronically ill and those with respiratory/ cardiopulmonary ailments, in the areas most impacted by port operations.
Proposals must be submitted online and are due by 4 p.m. Jan. 18.

City and Nonprofit Offer Grants to Child Care Providers
LONG BEACH — The City of Long Beach and The Nonprofit Partnership or TNP are administering grants for licensed early child care providers to purchase supplies needed to meet COVID-19 protocols. Grants range from $500 to $10,000. All licensed child care providers operating in Long Beach, who are open or licensed to be open on Dec. 1, are eligible to apply. Grant awards will be based on providers’ licensed capacity of children they are allowed to serve. Applications will be reviewed and awarded weekly until funding is distributed.
The application is available online. The application period will close at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2021. Child care providers who need assistance with the application can contact TNP at 562-8886530 or support@tnpsocal.org
