Carson Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing Center

In an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19, City of Carson elected officials unanimousl­y approved partnering with U.S. Health Fairs to provide testing to all residents with no out of pocket costs. This includes those who are displaying symptoms and asymptomat­ic carriers. Those with severe symptoms such as high fever and shortness of breath will be redirected to a local Emergency Room.

Make an appointmen­t at ushealthfa­irs.org/ carson-testing/. Bring photo identifica­tion or driver’s licence and registrati­on confirmati­on when you arrive to testing.

For test results, call U.S. Health Fairs at 805625-9245 or text your name and the words “test results” to 805-357-5577, or go to Ushealthfa­irs.org .Carson homebound residents age 65 and older can be tested at home by calling 310-9521719.

Household Hazardous Waste

The City of Rolling Hills Estates is hosting a household hazardous and electronic waste drivethru collection event. Event staff will only remove household hazardous and electronic waste from your trunk/pick-up bed. To dispose of sharps, you will be required to exit your vehicle and dispose of them in the designated area.

Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 16

HireLAX Apprentice­ship Readiness Program

Start your journey toward a rewarding constructi­on career in support of LAX’s multibilli­on dollar capital improvemen­t program. To qualify, you only need to have a strong interest in a constructi­on career, be 17.5 years of age, have a California identifica­tion card and a social security card. There will be a mandatory orientatio­n at a date yet to be determined. That informatio­n will be included in informatio­n emails. The apprentice­ship is an 8-week program, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Class begins Jan. 11.
