Why Healthy Air Matters

The WHAM Program is South Coast AQMD’s middle school and high school air quality education program.

Through the WHAM Program, South Coast AQMD hopes to increase awareness of air quality issues within the South Coast Basin and empower youth to drive positive change during a time when they are developing and forming their own habits.

The WHAM Program utilizes Kids Making Sense®, a science, technology, engineering and math-based educational curriculum that teaches students about air quality issues. The curriculum, which was created by Sonoma Technology Inc., meets Next Generation Science Standards and was developed by air quality scientists and educators.
