Rev. Townley is Forest Grove Baptist’s new pastor
The Forest Grove Baptist congregation is pleased to have called on Reverend Nathan Townley to be its pastor.
Rev. Townley had been a part-time interim pastor for about a year for Forest Grove.
“During this time,” said a church spokesman, “the congregation has been blessed and has enjoyed Nathan and his wife Claudia being a part of the the Forest Grove family. The church looks forward to a long continuing relationship with Nathan and his family.”
Rev. Townley will follow a long line of ministers at Forest Grove, starting with Rev. James Doffermeyer in 1887.
Rev. Townley has been involved in ministry since 1982. Originally licensed to preach by Mount Vernon Baptist Church in 1983, he later was ordained by the Northern Virginia Baptist Association. In 30 years of ministry, Rev. Townley has pastored three churches. He also has been involved in assisting two large ministries and has been active in the prison ministry. He also served as congregation elder and has taught in various positions within his member churches.
“Rev. Townley and the Forest Grove Church family invites the community to visit and fellowship with our unique country church,” the spokesman said. “Please join us in asking for God's blessing on the works of Forest Grove to advance the kingdom.”
Services are held at Forest Grove Church (258 Forest Grove Rd., Amissville, near Viewtown) from 11 a.m. to noon.
