Thomas L. (Tom) Dart
Thomas L. (Tom) of Rixeyville, VA died on September 19, 2016 at his home. He was born on December 6, 1934 in Adrian, MI to the late Ervin Dart and Florence Hoenes. He was also preceded in death by son, Mark Dart, sister Sharon and brother Ronald.
Looking back on a life filled with love, endless endeavors, and immeasurable accomplishments.
A young man who, as a teenager, left Adrian MI in search of the world, determined to achieve for God and his Country, to seize every moment as if it would be his last. A man who viewed the furthest reaches of the globe, as we can only imagine it, as an Army paratrooper. A civil servant whose achievements in Vietnam, Thailand, Okinawa, Australia and the US garnered the Commander´s Award for Civilian Service, as recognized by the highest reaches of the United States Army. As a professional for establishing a pattern of excellence during his time with the Pentagon. A member of the Am. Legion, Culpeper /Warrenton Amateur Radio Assoc., and the Amissville VFR. As a parent whose tough love meant to expect more from yourself and those around you. As a teacher who believed there is nothing that can´t be learned by reading a book and getting your hands dirty. Thomas Dart was so many great things to so many people, but to those who loved him he was Pop.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Dart, his children, Lori Dart of Flint Hill VA, Katherine Baumgarnder of Castleton VA and Tammy Billings and her husband Jeff Billings of Rixeyville VA . Also surviving are his sister Kathleen Dart of Haslett MI; his grandchildren Daniel and his wife Katie Dart, Jacob Dart, Robin and Brian Baumgardner, Adam Caporuscio, and Haley Billings; and his great grandchildren Natalee and Isaac Walsh.
