Richard Junior Jenkins
Richard Junior Jenkins, 74, of Boston peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. Richard was born in Rappahannock County on August 8, 1942 to the late Connor G. Jenkins and the late Mary Sisk Jenkins. Richard was retired from VDOT where he was a supervisor and had retired after 40 plus years, he was also a lifelong member of the Slate Mills Baptist Church, where he was still proudly active with the choir, a Trustee and sat on numerous Church Committees. An avid Redskins Fan, talented billiards player, enjoyed gardening, Horseshoes and Softball during his youth. He would always play to win and usually did.
Richard is survived by his wife Lillian Dodson Jenkins and their three Children; Gregory Bryant Jenkins, Sr. of Madison, Michelle Jenkins-Frye and her husband Carl of Arlington, Crystal Dawn Jenkins of Rappahannock County. Six Grandchildren; Ashley Nicole Estes, Jessica Inez Merryman and her husband Alan, Gregory Bryant Jenkins, Jr. Jordan Jenkins Frye, Connor Jenkins Frye and Trey Jenkins. As well as four great grandchildren Leighann, Abby, Mason, and Logan. Richard is also survived by one sister Maude Racer of Slate Mills.
In addition to his parents Richard is preceded in death by four siblings; Mary, George, Frank and Nelson. The family received friends Wednesday evening, October 19, 2016 from 6-8pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels of Culpeper, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service was held at 11am Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels of Culpeper with Pastor Sandy Martin officiating.
The family will be serving as pallbearers; Gregory Jenkins, Jordan Frye, Trey Jenkins, Connor Frye, Todd Atkins, Alan Merryman, Darren Dodson and Roger Atkins. Interment will follow at Etlan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Slate Mills Baptist Church, PO Box 115, Boston, VA 22713.
Richard held a special place in his heart for many extended family members, including his church family, friends and coworkers. He thought of all of you with great fondness.
