Frank Ronald Zinn, 88, of Culpeper died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Jackson House Assisted Living. He was born November 20, 1928 in Belington, WV to the late Curtiss and Hazel Bennett Zinn. Mr. Zinn was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War in the Signal Corp from 1950 to 1952 and received the Occupation­al Medal. He was the superinten­dent for Bingham and Taylor Foundry for 38 years. He was a charter member of the Culpeper Kiwanis Club, Amissville Fire Department, Culpeper Planning Commission, and Salem Volunteer Fire Department where he was the First Fire Chief. Mr. Zinn was also Deacon, Treasurer and Trustee of New Salem Baptist Church, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was past member of the Red Cross, Culpeper Numismatic Club, Chairman Culpeper Chamber of Commerce, American Foundrymen­s Society and Civil Defense. He was honored with the L.B. Henretty Award and a holder of 2 U.S. Patents. He is survived by his wife, Anna Embrey Zinn; two daughters, Debbie Zinn of Stanley and family friend, Wesley Gray, and Hazel Zinn-Day and her husband, Kevin of Woodville; two granddaugh­ters, Devin Mitchell Day of New York, NY and Naval Flight Officer Carly Marie Day of Norfolk; three sisters, Dorothy Zinn Hackley of Amissville, JoAnn Tilley and her husband, Wally of Boston, VA, and Nancy Nicholas and her husband, Farrell of Amissville; sister-in-law, Betty Zinn of Gainesvill­e; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. at New Salem Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Dodson and Pastor Sandy Martin officiatin­g. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery with military honors provided by Culpeper VFW Post 2524.
