Sarah Y. Jenkins, 96, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 at her residence in Viewtown, VA. She was born on November 27, 1920 in Rappahanno­ck County, the daughter of the late Quinton and Edna Smith Yancey. Mrs. Jenkins assisted her husband, the late Elmer T. Jenkins, in the operation of their business, Jenkins Garage in Amissville from its opening in 1947 until his death in 1991. She was a life-time dedicated member of Forest Grove Baptist Church attending regularly until her health began to decline earlier this year. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Woodward of Viewtown; one sister Peggy and her husband Charlie May of Culpeper; and a special nephew she helped to raise and was like a son, Q. Earl Yancey of Stephens City, VA. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her siblings, Lavinia Barron, Earl R. Yancey, and Juanita Pullen and her son-in-law, Franklin Woodward. Her funeral service was held on Thursday, June 15 at 10:30 AM at Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton by Rev. W. Nathaniel Townley. Interment followed at the family cemetery near Viewtown. Memorial contributi­ons may be made to Forest Grove Baptist Church, 258 Forest Grove Road, Amissville, VA 20106.
