Payne Mitchell Carolyn Virginia

Carolyn Virginia Payne Mitchell, 74, of Front Royal, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 10, 2017. A funeral service was held at Front Royal Church of the Brethren on Monday, August 14, conducted by Pastors Bobby and Diann Whetzel. Burial followed in Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester, VA. Carolyn was born November 2, 1942 in Woodstock, VA, daughter of the late Lester Floyd and Nannie Caroline Kendall Payne. She was a member of Bible Study Fellowship and was a faithful member of Front Royal Church of the Brethren serving in numerous capacities, including deacon. Carolyn was the consummate caregiver, always making sure the need of others were met before her own. She was the owner of Mitchell´s Ceramics, and enjoyed making crafts and spending time with her family and friends. She was the wife of the late Carl Junior Mitchell. Carolyn was a special mother to Carolyn Hallman; special aunt to Logan Tate; also surviving are two sisters Haley Drummonds of Winchester and Helen Hope of Roanoke; her special companion Charlie Morris; special friend Chris Capozio; and a number of nieces, nephews, and their families. She was preceded in death by three brothers Robert “Bobby” Kendall Payne, Harold Lester Payne, and William “Billy” Edward Payne. Pallbearers will be Logan Tate, Roy Wayne Drummonds, Lee Drummonds, Chuck Drummonds, Aaron Johnson, Cody Bolyard, Nelson Longerbeam and Nick Capozio. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the Front Royal Church of the Brethren. The family received friends on Sunday, August 13, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Front Royal Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund, 106 West 13th Street, Front Royal, VA 22630.
