PATH Foundation opens 2018 grants cycle
Preliminary applications due by Nov. 3 Awarded $4 million-plus in 2017
The charitable PATH Foundation has opened its Annual Program and Planning Grants cycle, with a total of $750,000 available for this upcoming 2018 grant cycle.
Those Rappahannock County organizations that plan to apply for grants must submit a preliminary application — known as a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) — no later than Friday, Nov. 3.
Bear in mind that the LOI to be submitted by Nov. 3 is just a preliminary proposal submitted through the foundation’s online grant portal. If accepted, applicants will receive an invitation in late January 2018 to submit a full application.
Full applications will be due Feb. 26, 2018, and award recipients will be notified in June 2018. Successful grantees must use funding within one year of the award.
PATH’s 2017 grant beneficiaries in Rappahannock County included Foothills Forum (to explore critical health and transportation issues for the county’s aging population, which appeared as a recent series in the Rappahannock News); Headwaters Foundation (to provide an after-school enrichment program for Rappahannock County Elementary School); Rapp@Home (to help the county’s senior residents stay connected and live independently in their homes); Rappahannock County High School (to continue its PRIDE program encouraging positive social behaviors); and the Child Care and Learning Center (for child wellness and educational purposes).
PATH Foundation’s Annual Program and Planning Grants are 12-month grants for new or existing projects related to one or more of the foundation’s four
priority areas: access to care, childhood wellness, mental health, and senior services. Applicants may request funding for up to $100,000, though most grants will be lower. Unrestricted general operations are not eligible for funding in this grant cycle. Eligible grant applicants include 501(c)3 non-profits, religious institutions (for non-religious purposes) or local government entities in Rappahannock, Fauquier and northern Culpeper counties. Applicants must also reflect the mission and values of the PATH Foundation. Complete details are available at www. pathforyou.org/grants. “We always get excited about funding community projects and programs that meet our four priority areas,” stated Christy Connolly, PATH’s president and CEO. “Some of the projects we have previously funded include the Rapp at Home senior village project in Rappahannock County, the Environmental Studies Academy at Fauquier High School, dental services at the Fauquier Free Clinic, and a fully-accessible playground at the Culpeper County Sports Complex. “We’re looking forward to seeing the ideas from organizations doing important and innovative work in our area,” she said. Additional PATH Foundation grants for 2018 will include Make it Happen! (requests of up to $25,000 for quick-start projects that are open year round with no deadline); and Technical Assistance (requests of up to $10,000 for planning, consulting, professional development and forms of technical support, also open year round with no deadline). General Operations grants will be next offered in the fall of 2018.
