The Redeemed

- By Pastor Tim

Psalm 107:2 says, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.” I was reared in a Bible-believing church. In my adolescence, I realized I needed to be saved. The Spirit came to me, and He said, “Come.” Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Revelation 22:17, “And the Spirit and the bride say come.” The Spirit always says come. I knew I was a sinner, and I knew there was a penalty for sin. I wanted to be saved, but I thought I had to go forward at church to be saved. I was very shy then, and the thought of walking down a church aisle was terrifying. Satan knows what lie to tell each person to keep them from receiving Christ. This inertia went on for some time. One night I was playing volleyball with friends. My Mom yelled for me. Mom was just over five feet tall, but when she called, her voice shook our village. Mom said, “We are going to church tonight.” I said, “I don’t want to go.” She said, “You might get saved.” I said, “If you make me go, I will go, but I am not going to get saved.” She said, “You are going.” Thank God for parent’s who take their children to church. That was the night the Spirit spoke to me. That was the night I did not say no. I prayed, “Lord, I know I am a sinner. I also know you love me, and you died for me. Lord Jesus, come into my heart and save my soul. I am trusting you to take me to heaven.” I was twelve years old. After all these years, that was the moment that changed everything for eternity. If you have never been born again, the Spirit always says, “Come.”
