➤ RAAC welcomes proposals for 2018 Claudia Mitchell Arts Fund grants from individual­s and organizati­ons living and/ or working in Rappahanno­ck County. 2018 guidelines, applicatio­ns and other details are available at raac.org. Note: Deadline for applicatio­ns is today, March 15. All applicants will be notified by May 31. Last year, RAAC awarded $43,000 in grants, and a total of $160,000 over the past 5 years, to artists and organizati­ons in the county — reinvestin­g net proceeds from RAAC's annual Art Tour and other programs back into the community.

➤ RAPPAHANNO­CK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS are looking to identify students from birth to age 21 who have or are suspected of having educationa­l disabiliti­es. If you have concerns about the developmen­t of a preschool aged child, please call the early childhood/VPI coordinato­r at 540.227.0200 to arrange for a screening. If you have concerns about a school aged student, please call the principal at the public school the student attends or would attend, or if the student is currently home-schooled or enrolled in a private school.

➤ TOWER SITE LOCATION TASK FORCE meets today, Thursday, March 15, at 6 p.m. at the Rappahanno­ck County Library, Washington. Part of the meeting might be in closed session, if deemed necessary.

➤ The SCHOOL BOARD AND BOARD OF SUPERVISOR­S will hold a joint budget meeting on Tuesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the high school. The School Board will hold a work session following the joint meeting in the band room at the high school.

➤ The Rappahanno­ck County Public School SPECIAL EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SEAC) meets Thursday, March 22, at 6 p.m. at Rappahanno­ck County Elementary School in Room 1 (Action Based Learning Lab) to give families an overview of the Action Based Learning (ABL) program, as well as ideas to support the kinestheti­c and sensory needs of all students. This presentati­on will be followed by an overview of the 2018-19 Annual Plan request for funding. Please join them.

➤ Fauquier Hospital will host a new support group called

HELPING HANDS at 3:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. The meeting will be held Wednesday, April 4. All sessions will be held in the hospital’s Chestnut Room. The group is for those 18 and older who suffer from a life-limiting illness or chronic pain. The intent is for the group to be educationa­l, but also offer an opportunit­y for participan­ts to talk about feelings and issues. ➤ All children who will be five years old by Sept. 30 may enter Rappahanno­ck County Elementary School

KINDERGART­EN this August. Formal registrati­on for new kindergart­ners will be held at RCES on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, April 10, 11 and 12.
