Edna Cornelia Metzinger
Edna Cornelia Metzinger, 91, of Sperryville died Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Autumn Care of Madison. She was born December 24, 1926 in Kensington, MD to the late Benjamin Rogers and Cornelia Emily Hughes. Mrs. Metzinger was a member of Sperryville United Methodist Church, Culpeper Minuteman Chapter NSDAR, Colonial Dames, and United Daughters of the Confederacy-Black Horse Chapter. She loved gardening and was a former member of the Rappahannock Garden Club. She is survived by three children, Thomas Gene Metzinger and his wife, Melody of Harrisonburg, Timothy Dale Metzinger of Harrisonburg, and Nina Anne Shepardson and her husband, Mark of Flint Hill; three grandchildren, Tara Leigh Koontz and her husband, Grant of Harrisonburg, Michael Edward Metzinger of South Haven, MS, and Christopher Brendon Beck of Newark, CA; and one great grandson, Abel Thomas Koontz of Harrisonburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, 1st Lt. Herbert Marshburn, US Army; her second husband, Col. Dale James Metzinger, USAF; and five brothers, Jack, Dick, Dorsey, Sanford and Frank Hughes. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA with Pastor Sara Keeling officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
