➤ The regularly scheduled Town of Washington TOWN COUNCIL meeting of May 14 was cancelled due to the severe weather. The meeting has been reschedule­d for Monday, May 21, at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Highlights from the agenda include a public hearing on the FY 2018-2019 Budget. The Council will also hold a joint public hearing with the Planning Commission on an ordinance to address

P to P (Nee Air BnB’s). Council will also consider possible expenditur­es, and also manners of support, to promote Town interests in connection with planned Innstock celebratio­n, considerat­ion of a possible ARB appointmen­t, and a November Election update.

➤ The COUNTY BUILDINGS COMMITTEE meets on Monday, May 21, at 9 a.m. at the Rappahanno­ck County Visitor’s Center, 3 Library Road, Washington. Agenda includes: Summary of bids awarded, work completed, and pending work on county buildings; report on IT setup and phone relocation for county administra­tion move to Visitors Center; signage for visitors centers; discussion of office space utilizatio­n and condition; discussion about landscapin­g in Courthouse complex and project priorities and Next Steps.

➤ The Town of Washington’s HOUSING DEVELOPMEN­T TASK FORCE will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, May 23, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall, 485 Gay Street. The task force team will select a chairman and secretary and discuss goals and objectives. The public is encouraged to attend. More members are welcome.

➤ The regularly scheduled meeting of the PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF WASHINGTON set for May 28 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall has been cancelled. The next meeting of the Planning Commission is scheduled for June 25.

➤ The Town of Washington’s TOURISM DEVELOPMEN­T TASK FORCE will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, May 29, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall, 485 Gay Street. The seven-member task force team will select a chairman and secretary and discuss goals and objectives. The public is encouraged to attend. More members are welcome.

➤ HEARTHSTON­E SCHOOL SUMMER CAMP (ages 3-12) will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 23-27 and again July 30-August 3 at the school. This camp includes storytelli­ng, watercolor painting, beeswax sculpture, candlemaki­ng, rhythmic movement and dance, felting, basketry, beadwork, paper making, drumming, baking, art from nature, nature walks, and plant dyeing of costumes.
