Anne Bradley Tyler of Basye, VA, passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 1 at UVA Hospital in Charlottes­ville. Anne was born in Efland, NC on July 27, 1933 to John English Bradley and Myra Elizabeth Webb. In 1946, she moved to Peking, China, where her father was assistant military attaché. In 1949, she returned to the U.S., where she attended Falls Church High School. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1955 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Secretaria­l Administra­tion. While there, she married her first husband, Roger Beach Pierson, whom she had first met in Peking. Together they resided in a wide variety of places, including Kaneohe, HI; Monterey, CA; Okinawa; and Virginia Beach, VA, where she worked as a secretary for an engineerin­g firm. She continued to travel with her second husband, Gordon Robert Tyler, whom she married in 1969. They lived in Ft. Amador, Panama; Munich, Germany; and Alexandria, VA, where Anne served as secretary at Heritage Presbyteri­an Church. They retired to Bryce Resort in Basye in 1991, where Anne was active in her church and enjoyed volunteeri­ng, playing golf, swimming, hiking, sewing, organizing picnics, and spending time with her children, grandchild­ren and many friends. She loved to bake and was renowned for her homemade apple pie. She is survived by her brother, John Bradley, and his wife, Vivian; her sons, Roger, Bradley, and Mitchell Pierson; her daughter, Susan Ezell and her husband, Jeffrey; two grandsons, Daniel and Benjamin Pierson; and three granddaugh­ters, Michelle Pierson and Nicole and Alyssa Ezell. Service is to be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Basye on June 23 at 11:00, with interment and a fellowship gathering to follow.
