BUTTERFLY COUNTS, TRAINING COMING UP

Although reports are coming in that butterflies are scarce this year, probably because of the heavy rains this spring, annual national butterfly counts and related activities are still taking place in our area.

As I wrote about in my June 21 column, in Rappahannock County, a kids’ count is July 14, the training for the official count or for anyone who is interested is the next day (July 15), and the official count is the next Saturday (July 21).
