Here’s what we’re going to do
Since establishing our new county-wide organization, United Citizens of Rappahannock (UCOR), we’re receiving many requests for more detailed information.
Seems our friends, neighbors and fellow citizens rightly want to know HOW we intend to go about achieving our stated goals: promoting good government within the county, encouraging civility among all of our government officials and citizens, and acting as a catalyst to people of all persuasions to work together to make Rappahannock County government work for the benefit of all of us.
In short, what are we going to DO?
These broad-ranging expressions of interest have prompted us to schedule our first “Welcoming Reception” to introduce ourselves and present our plan of action in person, face-to-face.
That meeting will take place on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Quievremont Winery on Gid Brown Hollow Road in Washington, thanks to the gracious owners who volunteered to host this event.
We invite all interested, curious fellow citizens to join us as our guests. We want you to hear what we have to offer and more importantly we want to listen to your ideas, concerns and ways we can work together through civility, good will, constructive, respectful debate and productive compromise.
UCOR’s mission will only succeed and work effectively through a large and diverse membership, which is why we also recently launched our campaign to recruit new members to join our ranks. Amazingly, more than 100 like-minded citizens have responded.
With our numbers growing, we can accomplish much by working together for the betterment of all in our community. There is no charge for membership, however contributions (which are not taxdeductible) are always welcome.
We’ve heard your questions and are eager to respond. Please join our board of directors and members on Sunday, October 28th, at Quievremont Winery, 162 Gid Brown Hollow Road. Please RSVP to letsstopthenonsense@gmail.com.
Let us know the issues you care about in our county. Allow us to encourage your active participation. Come share neighborly camaraderie along with light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres. We really hope to see you there.
