 The Rappahanno­ck County

Democratic Committee meets on Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Washington Town Hall, 485 Gay Street, Washington. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for coffee and conversati­on. Meeting starts at 10 a.m. All are welcome!

 The Washington Town Council meets Monday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall. Agenda highlights include a public hearing on a resolution on new Town permit fees, possible appointmen­t of a new Planning Commission member and new ARB member, a street light update, considerat­ion and possible adoption of a resolution welcoming requests for Boundary Line Adjustment­s, considerat­ion of an Atrium Constructi­on proposal for electrical repairs at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, and a possible closed session in accordance with the provisions of Sec 2.2.-3711 A.1 to discuss and consider prospectiv­e named candidates for employment as Town Clerk, and in open session authorizat­ion of employment of a Town Clerk.

 The Rappahanno­ck County School

Board meeting will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 6:30 p.m. The location of the meeting has been changed from the high school band room to the elementary school gym.

 The Rappahanno­ck Garden Club will meet on Wednesday, Aug 21, at the Washington firehouse. The speaker will be Thomas Baughn, president of the Fauquier/Rappahanno­ck County Master Gardeners. Baughn will speak about the benefits of using rain barrels for gardening purposes. The Garden Club meets at 1:30, the program will start at 2 p.m. The public is welcome.

 Rappahanno­ck County Soccer

 The Sperryvill­e Community

Foundation is hosting a Sperryvill­e community meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Stonewall Abbey, 44 Main Street on Sperryvill­e’s Historic Main Street. The purpose of the meeting is for community residents to share ideas on how to achieve traffic calming and improve pedestrian safety in the village of Sperryvill­e.

 Rappahanno­ck-Rapidan Regional

Commission will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m. at the Regional Commission offices in Culpeper.

Forum meeting on Friday, Sept. 27, at Buckeye Farm, 54 Pophams Ford Road, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for an evening of wine and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Enjoy time with fellow Rappahanno­ck neighbors, local journalist­s, and the greater Foothills community.

 Lucy Russo will be facilitati­ng a

monthly meeting of writers who want to learn about new publishing informatio­n. All meetings are in the conference room at the Culpeper County Library. The evening meetings are the second Monday of every month from 5 to 7 p.m. and the morning meetings are on the second Tuesday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon. All are welcome to attend.
