Homecoming for Rappahannock High
Rappahannock County High School kicked off its homecoming festivities with a fun spirit week. The class which had the greatest number of participation earned a fun, yet unusual reward of duct-taping Principal Jimmy Swindler, who is always a good sport, to the gym wall.
Spirit week included a pep rally and performances from the Panther Band and the Competition Cheer team. In the end, the Class of 2020 claimed the coveted Spirit Stick after cheering the loudest. RCHS also hosted the Luray Bulldogs at Panther Stadium, where at halftime the 2019 Homecoming Court were recognized in front of a large football audience. Richard Lillard and Logan Woodward were crowned as the homecoming king and queen and Donovan Zook and Kayla Compton were recognized as prince and princess.
Homecoming festivities concluded with a fun, Mardi Gras themed dance. Principal Swindler and several high school teachers chaperoned the event as the students danced the night away.
“As Principal of RCHS, it was gratifying to me to see so many of our students and staff participate in our homecoming activities, and especially pleasing to see our students enjoy themselves at our homecoming dance,” said Swindler. “Greeting them at the door, watching them have so much fun on the dance floor, and then helping the many student and parent volunteers clean up afterwards made for a Saturday night that kept me up far later than usual but left me with memories I will always treasure.”
