• Lavonne Adkins, candidate for the office of Commissioner of Revenue in the Nov. 5 election, will be available each Saturday in October at the Rappahannock Library from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Jameson Room. She invites everyone to visit her at the library, this Saturday, Oct. 26, to learn about her candidacy.
• Rappahannock County Social Services, 354 Gay Street, Washington, will be holding their annual Children's Angel Tree Program starting Oct. 28. The program is for Rappahannock County resident children under the age of 18 years. Angel names will be taken through Nov. 15. Angel trees will be located at Trinity Church and Rappahannock County Social Services. Gifts from sponsors of Angels will be due back to the agency by Dec. 6, to ensure distribution. Please contact 540-675-3313 to have your child enrolled in the Angel Tree program or for further information about the program. Names for the Senior Tree will be taken Oct. 28Nov. 15, with gifts due to the agency for distribution on Dec. 6. The Senior Angel tree will be available at Atlantic Union Bank in Washington starting Nov. 15. • The Town of Washington’s Planning Commission meets on Monday Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall. Highlights from the agenda include a stocktaking on the work of the Commission to date; and a read-out from the Mayor on the latest developments concerning an impact assessment of future town growth.
• Foothills Forum’s October board meeting is Thursday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the 4-H Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Tula's Building in Little Washington. Open to the public. For more information, call 540-675-1207.
