Old favorites, new twists at Christmas in Little Washington

-

It’s almost time for Rappahannock’s annual Christmas in Little Washington extravaganza. This year promises a full day of activities with some wonderful attractions. But first, some basics about the day, including a new parking plan…

▶ WHEN: Sunday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.; the parade kicks off sharply at 1:30 p.m.

▶ WHERE TO PARK: Washington roads will be closed for all except parade entries and artisan and handicapped parking. General parking is at Rappahannock County High School with regular shuttles into town. For handicapped parking in Little Washington please display stickers and follow the signs.

▶ WHAT ABOUT THE

WEATHER?: In the event of inclement weather (we forbid it!), call the Christmas in Little Washington Hotline at 540-6753128.

The county’s annual hometown parade features the return of George and Martha Washington, our beloved RCHS marching band, the Rappahannock Hunt, some extraordinary classic cars, a tribute to the World Champion Washington Nationals, and some fun surprises including an array of fabulous floats depicting our “Christmas at the Movies” theme.

There will also be three indoor artisans markets at the RAAC Theatre, Trinity Church Hall and the Town Hall on Gay Street selling all sorts of festive gifts. The Inn at Little Washington will host its annual Christmas Market. And a delicious array of food will be cooked up by Off the Grid, the Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Bear Belly Brats, Etlan BBQ and the Rappahannock Girls Softball.

This year will also feature beer and cider from Pen Druid and Hinson Ford Cider & Mead, plus water and sodas from Shop with a Cop.

And for the children? Pony rides and a gift for every child from Santa. It doesn’t get much better than that!
