SATURDAY, JANUARY 18
CASTLETON WINTER FESTIVAL:
The Castleton Chamber Players, Eric Silberger and Daniel Lelchuk, return with Castleton Festival veteran and opera conductor/pianist Bradley Moore for this weekend’s (Jan. 18-19) Castleton Winter Festival. A very special Saturday Concert Program at 4 p.m. includes a pre-performance talk and a post-performance Q&A. The open Masterclass that follows on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. will include three selected cello students from the Shenandoah Conservatory. A reception and a participatory Q&A conversation will be held with the artists, all open to the public. A single ticket purchase ($20/$40) includes the Saturday Concert Program and the Sunday Masterclass. Music lovers and musicians are encouraged to attend — and bring their questions!
➜ BOOK SIGNING: Rappahannock resident Lillian Freeman Aylor will be signing her new book, “I’ll Get It Done: A Life Journey in Rappahannock,” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock Historical Society, 328 Gay Street, Washington. Questions please contact rapphistsoc@comcast.net or 540675-1163.

The Looking Glass is a much-anticipated 3,000-square-foot enchanted forest designed to spark visitors’ imaginations and childlike sense of wonder. Exhibits form a whimsical wonderland that invite guests to leave their everyday lives at the door and enjoy an otherworldly escape, such as traveling through a 50-foot caterpillar and interacting with a friendly family of gnomes.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children ages 13 and under. Guests book a 60-minute self-guided tour for a specific time. Tickets can be purchased onsite or online at ixartpark.org
➜ WREATH REMOVAL: Culpeper National Cemetery is asking for help in cleaning up over 8,000 holiday wreaths that were placed on its graves during the Wreaths Across America ceremony in December. Dumpsters will be available onsite for wreath disposal, although participants are encouraged to bring gloves and rakes. Please meet at 8 a.m. at the cemetery at 305 US Avenue in Culpeper. Contact Jennifer Smith at 540-439-5059.
