‘Trade’ scholarships offered to Rapp residents
‘Automotive technology, commercial truck driving, HVAC, plumbing, heavy equipment repair and so forth’
The Northern Piedmont Community Foundation has begun a four-month long online process of accepting applications for unique scholarships seldom offered before.
When people hear the word “scholarship,” in other words, they assume monies dedicated to college-bound high-school seniors. But for this round of scholarships awarded in the four counties served by the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation — Rappahannock, Madison, Culpeper and Fauquier — you might say the 35 scholarships have “universal” appeal.
Specifically for Rappahannock residents, for example, there is scholarship support for those interested in certificates in automotive technology, commercial truck driving, HVAC, plumbing, heavy equipment repair and so forth. The NPCF scholarships are named the Trade Certification and Technical Education Scholarship.
“Our scholarship program brings us tremendous joy and satisfaction in knowing we are providing much needed assistance at a time when the cost of education has skyrocketed,” says the foundation. “This year, our online process has been updated to introduce a universal application. We believe this will allow students eligibility for a greater number of scholarship opportunities.”
While a small number of scholarships have rolling applications, one can apply for the majority of them until March 13, at which point the online application process will close. Decisions will be announced in early May.

Established in 2000, the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation is a public charity that builds philanthropic capital to enhance and preserve the quality of life in each county and to strengthen the region’s nonprofit organizations.
