Supporting those who give so much of themselves

-

Rapp at Home sincerely thanks the Rappahannock community for the generous outpouring of support during this year’s Give Local Piedmont. Being able to stay safe and comfortable in our own homes adds immeasurably to the quality of life of seniors, but is also a bene t to the community — as this di cult pandemic highlights only too clearly.

Your generous donations will allow us to continue to help Rappahannock seniors live independently, with things like delivering groceries and prescriptions to their door so they can avoid public stores, protecting their health and peace of mind. Social interaction isn’t easy right now, but is more important than ever during this time of anxiety and isolation.

As our busy activities schedule came to a screeching halt over the last few months, we’ve switched to online — and have amazed ourselves with learning to chat on Zoom and order groceries with a computer.

We quickly put phone trees in place to keep members in touch, and are making sure to reach out especially to isolated folks, or those bearing the heavy burden of caregiving when social distancing has reduced outside help.

We’re a resource when you don’t know where to turn for medical help, or nancial assistance, or problems that feel overwhelming. We’re connecting members to the local resources that help them with tasks large and small, making living at home manageable and enjoyable.

Thank you, Rappahannock, for being a part of this, and supporting the seniors who give back so much to our community. Your help makes a strong Rappahannock community stronger still.
