Charles Richard Mahoney

Charles Richard Mahoney, 67, of Hedgesvill­e passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 as a result of an automobile accident.

Born October 2,1953 in Front Royal, Virginia he is the son of Helen Irene Wines Foster and the late Charles Harrison Mahoney.

He served as a military police officer in the US Army. He was a member of the American Legion and an active rider in the American Legion Riders Club.

Along with his wife, Brenda, they raised National award winning German Shorthaire­d Pointers and was an AKC certified hunt test judge.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchild­ren training and racing mules.

For over 26 years he competed at Gymkhana riding events. One of his proudest accomplish­ments was being awarded the One Million Safe Free Miles Award from JB Hunt.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife and companion of 28 years, Brenda Marcum Mahoney; his children Charles Mahoney Jr. (Jessica), Jason Mahoney, Tommy Mahoney, Jacqueline Riffey (Chris), Stephanie Olivares, Gerald Rhodes (Leilani), Michael Rhodes Sr., Tammy Snyder (Brian), twenty grandchild­ren and seven great-grandchild­ren. His siblings Glenn Mahoney (Hope), Johnny Foster (Karen), Terry Foster (Sharon), Patricia Miner, Teresa Judd (James), Debbie Brogan (Tom), Juanita Shafer (Tom), Randolph Carter and Joyce Allen. He was preceded in death by his brothers Randolph Mahoney and Paul Foster Jr. He is also survived by his long-time riding companions Mike Kilmer and Steve Foster.

Family Night was Saturday December 12, 2020 at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.

A Funeral service with Military Honors was held on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 1:00PM with Pastor Steve Foster officiatin­g.
