The right shoes
In addition to having the proper footwear for walking the trails, it’s also a good idea to outfit your rig with tires best suited for the terrain. The Axialfest mix of loose dirt and pebbles, high-traction jagged rocks, smooth low-traction rocks, wet rocks, and mud when crossing rivers is the perfect recipe for an all-terrain tire. It’s always worth taking a couple of sets with different tread patterns and rubber compounds to test. I ran into the Pro-line team at Axialfest, and they were kind enough to outfit my Axial SCX10 with a set of their newest crawler tire: the Bfgoodrich Krawler T/A KX, mounted on trick billet aluminum Pro-forge Faultline 1.9-inch wheels, finished in gunmetal. Enhanced performance was immediately noticeable, and the added weight of the brass brake rotor weights let me climb like a champ.
