Hobao packs a lot into the DC-1, and the overall impression of quality is high. The machined chassis rails, aluminum links, anodized shocks, and well-executed molded parts all contribute a premium feel. It would be extra nice if the body were a licensed “real truck” design, but the DC-1 clocks in at $430, so keeping the price down is a consideration.

The truck could use some refining to make it really shine in extreme terrain, but there are no critical missteps in the design—and there’s certainly plenty of opportunity for modding and improving the truck. If you’re looking for a trail rig with lots of features and detail and you like the idea of breaking away from the “big three” of Axial, Vaterra, and Traxxas, the DC-1 could be your truck.
