RPM TRAILING ARMS AND SKID PLATES

-

FEATURES

RPM’S new trailing arms for the Traxxas Unlimited Desert Racer are direct fit pieces and have been engineered to be stronger than the stock pieces they replace. RPM takes things a step further by making them out of their special blend of strong engineered Nylon to increase their strength even more. The pieces come only in black and they have a unique textured finish. According to RPM these parts have an increased wall thickness by about 40% in the shock area, have about 12% more material around the pivot balls and the squared off body is less prone to bending. Unlike the stock arms, the RPM ones are flat and wide on the bottom and they’re designed to accept RPM’S optional skid plates. The skid plates are ribbed to decrease their surface area and make the slide over obstacles easier. If they happen to wear out, they’re cheap and easy to replace. Only two screws are needed to secure them to the RPM trailing arms and they can be reversed to increase their life.

TESTING

I pulled the parts out of the bags and gave them a look before installing them on my UDR. As always the parts are well made and are sturdy. They’re stock replacements but you have to remove the pivot balls from the stock arms and install them into the RPM ones; the balls popped into the RPM pieces easily and rotate well. Before installing the on the truck I installed the skid plates. They have a slight bend to them but they flatten out once you install and tighten the mounting screws. The shock ends slid in place with no issues and I had no trouble fitting the trailing arms on the chassis and axle.
