Frequenting local RC tracks is one of our favorite things to do. Not only do they provide us RC enthusiasts a fun place to drive our vehicles, but they also allow us to congregate with fellow hobbyists to share our enjoyment of all things RC. We’re big on supporting the local shops and tracks that help keep our hobby thriving. We implore you to do the same.

We recently visited a world-renowned racetrack in our own backyard, OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach, California. Getting time to talk to fellow drivers in such a great facility was a fun time for sure. Read about it in this issue. Also in this issue of RCCA, we get a detailed look at Senior Editor Kevin Hetmanski’s Traxxas Unlimited Desert Racer trophy truck. Hetmanski walks us through plenty of awesome, custom features of his special project.

We also get to crawl rocks with Axial’s Capra. You’ll want to see just how capable this ready to run crawler is right out of the box. Tamiya is a fan favorite and they’ve introduced a new version of one of their vintage buggies, this time in a “comical” form. The Frog is an early-80s classic that has been reborn for even more fun. If competition is in your blood, you’ll want to see the custom Team Associated B6 2-wheel drive buggy that Chris Parker built specifically for racing. It’s ready to run with the quickest of them for sure.

Using the right tool for the job is important, especially when working on RC vehicles. That’s why we examine a few essential tool kits for your toolbox. If you’re just starting to build your tool collection, you’ll want to check out the buyer’s guide, The Right Tool. If you’ve ever run into problems mounting bodies perfectly, we have the cure. Follow along as we go step by step with Protoform’s magnetic body mounting tool in our DIY article, Get It Straight. The results are nothing short of perfect.

We love what our readers are doing with their vehicles and we want to share it with the world. If you haven’t submitted your ride to be included into our Reader’s Rides department, we encourage you to do so. We have created a new Reader’s Rides submission interface on our website Rccaraction.com that makes it easier than ever to submit your ride. Check it out and submit your ride for a chance to be featured.
