Futaba 3PV Radio

-

receiver. Frequencies to the receiver travel through a low profile antenna on the radio that has a stylish look. A wide push button is used to turn the radio on and three push buttons below are used to scroll through the radio’s menus. You can easily see what’s happening in those menus thanks to a good size LCD screen on the top of the radio. Switches near the steering wheel are used to adjust throttle trim (left), steering trim (top) and steering dual rate (right). The steering wheel itself has a great look and soft grip, the handle however doesn’t; instead you get hard plastic with some ribs to improve grip.

TESTING

I installed the receiver into my Tamiya CC-02 for testing and although the receiver comes bound from the factory I decided to go through the process again to see how easy or hard it was to do it. I moved to a new model, selected the link setting and after pressing and holding the + button the radio went into link mode.

All I had to do after that was press the link button on the receiver and I was good to go. The menus are easy to scroll through and use but there’s no back button so there’s a lot of button pushing that needs

- to happen depending on what one you’re trying to get to. The radio feels good in my hand and I’m happy with the steering wheel position.

FINAL WORD

The Futaba 3PV might be on the bottom end of the Futaba radio list but it’s packed full of features that are helpful to anyone who may pick one up. It has a nice clean look and it’s easy to use. I do however wish there was a back button to get you out of the menus but that’s not a deal breaker. I’ve used the 3PV in a few vehicles now and have had no issues at all.
