WOMEN THINK BETTER IN WARMER TEMPERATURES
In a study of 543 college students, a one-degree Celsius increase in the room’s temperature was associated with a nearly 2 percent increase in the number of math questions the women answered correctly, and a 1 percent increase in their performance on a verbal task. The men did better on these tests at cooler temperatures, but as the temperature increased, they made less of an effort and their scores dropped. Curiously, temperature didn’t make a difference with logic problems for either gender.
