BURLINGAME - Darcy Dapra was born in Reno, Nevada on April 6, 1977. She slipped gently into the night at her home in Burlingame, California on January 27th, 2024, after an 18 month battle with cancer.

Darcy is survived by her husband, Gordon Evans; their son, August Evans; her parents, Dr. David and Joycette Dapra; her sisters, Dr. Gina Dapra and Anna Dapra Fairchild (Chris); and her brother Dr. David Dapra.

To know her was to love her. Darcy’s smile and manner made everyone feel comfortable and included. Her intellect, kindness and sense of humor captivated all those who knew her. She was a loving wife and mother who always put others first, making sure their needs were met before taking care of herself.

An award-winning chef, bi-lingual in English and Spanish, Darcy graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in English Literature from the University of Nevada, Reno. A Fulbright Scholar, Darcy taught English for a year in South Korea before getting her Masters degree in Art History from UC Davis.

With stints in academic publishing at the University of California Press and Stanford University, Darcy’s most profound impact was made and felt globally during her fifteen-year career at Google. As Head of Library Services at Google Books, and prior to that as the Strategic Partner Manager for Google Scholar, she built partnerships with libraries and publishers worldwide to drive the mission of making the world’s knowledge easily accessible online. Her work contributed to tens of millions of books and journal articles being made available in hundreds of languages across the world.

A celebration of her life will be held in April in Burlingame, CA.
