RENO - Caroline Massung, a beloved and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Reno, Nevada on March 10, 2024 after a battle with Dementia. She was 72. However, this was in fact a merciful end to a series of health problems unexpectedly shortening Caroline’s life.

A native of Hawaii, Caroline was born in 1952 to Seraphine and Helen Jacinth in Honolulu. She spent most of her life in California, graduating from Mt. Eden High School in Hayward CA in 1970. Caroline was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother who deeply loved her children, grandchildren and her many dogs over the years.

Caroline moved to Reno in 2012 with her husband, Bill, to be closer to her grandchildren. She loved the seasons, especially the snow on the mountains and the beautiful sunsets she could see from her living room.

Caroline is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bill Massung, her three children, Christina Hale, Billy Massung, and Tony Massung. As well as her sister, Harriet Borge’s, and brother Gerald Jacinth. And her grandchildren Arianna and Evan Hale, and Drake and Luca Massung. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a fifth grandchild on the way.

Caroline was warm and humorous. She was loving, caring and incredibly resilient. She faced many challenges in her life but had an unwavering determination that was truly remarkable. Her legacy lives on through her children and grandchildren, who carry forward her sense of humor, her strength, and her desire to always be cleaning.

Caroline will have a private memorial service at a date to be decided in the near future. Her family will honor her memory as long as they live, sharing stories and memories, lighting candles, praying for her, thinking of her, and speaking to her.

We love you and miss you dearly, Caroline. Rest in Peace.
