Dickinson Center’s annual Storytime Walk upcoming in August
RIDGWAY- On August 10, Dickinson Center will be hosting their annual Storytime Walk at the Fox Township Park.
This event is in conjunction with their Parents as Teachers Program, as they will provide crafts, activities, and snacks for families. This is a free family program, and children will have the opportunity to complete a set of fun activities while reading as the walk progresses. Each child will receive a free book from the PAT literacy express and a prize will be given out to one attendee.
Cortney Pahel, who is a Program Director for Dickinson, is eager to host this annual event for families of Elk County.
“My staff and I work really hard for this event every year and look forward to hosting it for families to come out and enjoy the park along with the activities we have planned,” Pahel said.
The walk is for any family with children five and under, but older siblings are welcome to participate. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The hours that the walk will be held is from 10 a.m. through 1 p.m. along with 3 p.m. through 6 p.m.
The family-fun stroll is expected to take a half-hour, and no registration is required. A make-up rain date is scheduled for August 11. Additionally, their Positive Parenting Program is ongoing, which is designed to help families build strong relationships and manage misbehavior within the family unit when it occurs.
Keep up to date with the latest activities going on Dickinson’s programs that are free for Elk County families with the Children’s Center Activities Calendar each month located on their Facebook page. No income or developmental guidelines are required for participation in these programs.
